Anatomy from A to Z: Course 18 (15 HR/CE)

 Appendicular Skeleton

Access Options

In the 18th course of our journey “Anatomy from A to Z,” we explore the bones and structure of the appendicular skeleton.

This course includes a detailed exploration and dissection of the bones of the appendicular skeleton, including both in-situ and ex-situ detailing of joints, movements, ligaments, muscular attachments, and key bony landmarks. Bones and joints explored include the scapula, humerus, clavicle, elbow, radius, ulna, carpals, metacarpals, phalanges, femur, knee, tibia, fibula, tarsals, metatarsals, and phalanges. Participants will first meet these structures in-situ and gain a greater appreciation of their contexts and relationships, then explore these bones ex-situ to gain a deeper understanding of bony variation and landmarks. Through this experience, participants will gain a detailed understanding of the relationships between these bones and joints. Through cultivating a greater appreciation of the human form, participants will be better able to apply their anatomical knowledge to their bodywork and movement practices.

  • Describe how one’s appreciation for the structure and support of the appendicular skeleton has evolved through this course,
  • Describe the variations observed between Anna and Z and consider how these variations may have influenced movement, expression, and function.
